Thoroughly enjoyable, Annette, especially as we’re currently on the road motel- and hotel-hopping across the western U.S. and have yet to come across anything to remotely compare to that colossal, Shakespearean bed of Ware!
We never stayed in a teepee. I hear they’re not very comfortable. I believe we did once stay at the Madonna Inn, but perhaps it was just a dream as I don’t recall the details--and the place is such a trip, I’d think I would.
Maybe if I'm reassured the mock tepee has been recently updated! The Madonna Inn is like a fever dream, and the experience may vary with the room, since they're all different. We booked without a clue, and it was fine. 😀
I appreciated this light-hearted post, Annette, Thanks. I especially liked the Shakespeare tidbit, and I looked up the reference, of course. (He said something was big enough for that bed)
It really should have been American, Kate! Right in. line with all those roadside attractions! Now I think about it, maybe I should look for something similar in early Virginia...😂
Okay, I'll bite. Why did the Victorian's cut the bed shorter?
A note to all those 21st century marketers who think they are the bees knees. There have been better marketers before you!
And more evidence that history is good preparation for business!

Thanks, Ruth! You need to go stay in one of those motels with rooms shaped like tepees! Or the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo. 😂 Enjoy your trip!

Elena, I should have included it! 😂 Adding it now!
I had no idea there could be a bed this big...at the V&A as well. I learn such interesting things from you, Annette.

Your sense of humor sparkled throughout this posting. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed n this, Joyce! The bed was such fun to write about, and I was delighted to realize that Julia thought so, too!
