Could You Get on the Bus? asked the sign in an alleyway. An excellent question in which courage calls to courage. Image: Annette Laing, 2025

Dear Nonnie Friend,

Today, I want to bring you Great American History. An inspiring history of Americans of extraordinary courage and decency, of people standing up for the US constitution and what's right.* And I think this is about to be a series, so stand by.

*Just ignore the evil people in this story: They're unimportant.

Never have I more wished to actually have you with me than on my stop in the small town of Anniston, Alabama, especially my American readers. I’ll do my best to bring Anniston to you.
